Gate at the north end of Powterhow Wood
This gate leads into the grounds of Wood End, a private residence. I have no problem with the owners wanting to maintain privacy, but a sign reading "Private Property. Trespassing forbidden under penalty of law" made my hackles rise. I was tempted to (but did not) trespass briefly: I believe, though I am not a lawyer, that trespass is a civil, not a criminal matter and so the owner would have to prove damage. Polite notices are more effective. By the way, the point from which this photo was taken is on a public Right of Way.
