At the Cumberland Pencil Museum
The Cumberland Pencil Co has a museum on the site of its factory in Keswick. It tells the history of pencil manufacture and how pencils are made. It houses the longest coloured pencil ever made, a total of 7.91 metres long. The vehicle in this photograph is the company's only surviving 1950s delivery van. It is a Morris J class van and was discovered under a pile of boxes in the 1970s when some old outbuildings were being cleared. It has been lovingly restored, is fully road-worthy and is taken to vintage rallies. See http://www.pencils.co.uk/ for more information about the Cumberland Pencil Co and the Museum.

Northbound walkers following The Cumbria Way turn right on the main road over the bridge (next photograph Image). The stone wall on the right is a part of Keswick’s flood defences. Behind the hedge to the left is the former Keswick School of Industrial Arts (photograph Image).
