Former "Lord Brougham" public house - March 2018
The "Lord Brougham" is first mentioned as a beerhouse in 1837 and the building probably dates from circa 1830. It was acquired by the State Management Scheme on 29 July 1916 and closed in 1932 on the opening of the Redfern design "Crescent Inn" (see: Image] ).
The building has been much altered externally down the years and is virtually unrecognisable from period photographs.

The Andalusian, Warwick Road
This bar/restaurant opened in December 2009, rejuvenating the listed 1930s building which had been boarded up for a couple of years Image .

At the far left, with a blue board above it, is the empty Lonsdale Cinema Image It is separated by a narrow lane from the main Post Office, which is soon to close Image To the right, the White House pub is up for sale Image Carlisle MP Eric Martlew has called for these three buildings to be safeguarded, and the area is the subject of a development brief by Carlisle City Council.

Door, Warwick Road Post Office
This was the main Post Office in Carlisle, see Image . It was closed in May 2008 and the business relocated here Image .

Crown Post Office, Warwick Road
Built in 1916 by John Laing. This Post Office will be closed in the near future, and the postal operation transferred to W.H. Smith's in the city centre. News of the move from such a substantial building to the upstairs of a narrow and crowded shop has not been generally well received.
