Plane Trees, Shap
The righthand-most in this row of former agricultural outbuildings is Plane Trees, with other houses to its left. All are subject to a Grade II listed status, granted in 1987, partly because the stone-faced building to the left is dated 1691. That is seen more fully in Image http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101145380-plane-trees-and-houses-adjoining-east-end-shap#.WQJPKtQrLGg Collectively they represent the evolution of the former barns, and are now in domestic use.

A6, Shap
The A6 passes through the small town of Shap. There is also a K6 type telephone box beside the trunk road. In 1935, the Post Office commissioned a new kiosk from Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to celebrate the Jubilee of King George V. The K6 Jubilee Kiosk, as it is known, was similar to the K2 box, being made of cast iron and painted red but was 25% lighter in weight. By the end of the 1930s there were 20,000 K6 telephone boxes in use all over the UK.
