Botanic Avenue - where cultchie meets China - where town meets gown and gown meets town - where backpackers dive - where revellers revel. It’s also not a bad spot for eating out and the War on Want second-hand bookshop . . . and the train to Bangor. (The view is towards Shaftesbury Square).

Signs such as this have sprung up across Belfast since the start of the economic depression. This one is on Botanic Avenue.
