Old railway gateposts, Belfast harbour
Between 1867 and 1970 there was an extensive railway system (about 16 miles at its peak) inside Belfast harbour. It was connected to the three railway companies and local customers at several places. This is one of several concrete gate posts on the eastern side of Duncrue Street. They had sidings leading across the road on “tram” track. I remember the rails in place but not the trains. Duncrue Street has been resurfaced at least once and is now higher than the harbour estate.
