St Mary's CoI Drumbanagher viewed from the towpath
St Mary's was built by the Closes, the squires of Drumbanagher House, in the late 1840s. The ruins of an older church stands in the adjoining graveyard. Train at Knockarney crossing
An Irish Rail 201 class locomotive heads a southbound fertiliser train towards Knockarney crossing, between Poyntzpass and Goraghwood. This crossing was removed during the 1992-97 Belfast - Dublin line upgrade project.

Steam hauled special train at Knockarney crossing- 1988
Preserved former Great Northern Railway (Ireland) class S 4.4.0 No. 171 "Slieve Gullion" brings a Railway Preservation Society of Ireland "Steam Enterprise" towards the now closed Knockarney crossing, some 3 miles south of Poyntzpass.

Southbound passenger train at Knockarney crossing - 1995
Northern Ireland Railways' 111 class diesel locomotive No. 112 "Northern Counties" takes the 17.00 Belfast (Central) - Dublin (Connolly) passenger service past Knockarney level crossing. Situated just south of Poyntzpass, Knockarney was a request stop until closure of the branch line from Goraghwood to Newry and Warrenpoint in 1965. The crossing was eliminated in the late 1990s.

Southbound passenger train at Knockarney crossing - 1997
Irish Rail 201 class diesel locomotive No. 203 brings the 18.00 Belfast (Central) - Dublin (Connolly) passenger service towards Knockarney crossing. These were the last days for traditional locomotive hauled passenger services on the cross-border "Enterprise", the push-pull De Dietrich stock entering revenue service on 11 June 1997 (although trains were briefly suspended due to an increase in civil unrest). Knockarney crossing closed as part of the Belfast - Dublin upgrade project.

Special train at Knockarney crossing
Headed by DMBSO No. 93, a 12-car 80-class set approaches Knockarney level crossing with the 08.30 Belfast (Central) - Dublin (Connolly) Ireland v France rugby special. The train is a mixture of Northern Ireland Railways' "Suburban" and "Inter-City" liveries. Situated at MP73.41 south of Poyntzpass, Knockarney crossing was eliminated in the late 1990s as part of the Belfast - Dublin line upgrade project.
