The barn stands across the road from the former Drumballyroney Church of Ireland Parish Church and day school where Patrick Bronte - the father of Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Bramwell - was the school master and where, at the church, he preached his first sermon. Image]

Drumballyroney Church, Schoolroom and Barn
These form the Brontë Interpretation Centre and the beginning of the Brontë Homeland Tour. This rural area between the town of Rathfriland and the village of Ballyroney was where Patrick Brontë, then known as Patrick Brunty (born 1777), lived and earned his living as a teacher until he left for Cambridge in 1802. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Bront%C3%AB
