The former Newcastle Railway Station, now home to Lidl
This railway terminus was adjacent to the Slieve Donard Hotel. In fact, the Slieve Donard Hotel was built by the Belfast and County Down Railway Company, as an 'end of line' luxury holiday destination.

The Irish Tricolour flying over Railway Street, Newcastle
Although a mainly Nationalist town - 69.3% of the population are Catholic - Newcastle enjoys excellent inter-communal harmony and apart from the Easter weekend and July 12th sectional flags are not normally flown. The tricolour here is flown to celebrate the Dublin Easter Rising of 1916.
