Former mill houses, Lenaderg (1982)
This terrace was originally built by the (now closed and demolished) Milltown Bleachworks. It became vacant and boarded-up (occupied at the time of the photo) but has now been restored. At one time it was known as the “Red Row” - a not uncommon name in the Banbridge/Lenaderg/Seapatrick area. Adjacent to Image

River Bann at Milltown, Lenaderg
After flowing through Banbridge and Seapatrick the River Bann reaches Lenaderg. It is still narrow but has already passed most of the sites of its former glory days when it was used to power the (now closed) linen mills. This is the view downstream from the bridge at Lenaderg.

Old railway station Lenaderg
See also Image This is the old station at Lenaderg, modernised and extended. There was a level crossing here, between the photographer and the station. Banbridge is to the right and Scarva to the left. The area was lightly populated when the line closed in 1955. Lenaderg and Banbridge are, more or less, one and the same now. Continue to Image

Old railway, Lenaderg
See also Image In 1969 (14 years after closure) the course of the line was still clearly discernible and the platform was largely intact. The platform buildings had, however, gone. This is the view towards Scarva.
