Ballast train, Crumlin
One of the ex-CIE MV-class locomotives waiting in the passing loop at Crumlin station. Once there was a suitable gap between the passenger services the locomotive would propel the train about a mile north of the station for discharge on the single line.

Train at Crumlin Station
450 Class diesel multiple unit number 8785 on a special train at Crumlin Station, on the closed line from Lisburn to Antrim. The passenger service to Crumlin was withdrawn on the 30 June 2003 when the station was closed.

Crumlin station - August 2014(1)
See Image June 2012. The former loop (right) is now free from weeds though some remain on the through/fast line. The platforms have not been treated. There is some new ballast at the Antrim end of the station. On a non-railway note there are now new houses, backing onto the railway, at top right. See also Image (June 1974).

Train scrapping, Crumlin (1980)
Image (August 1982) showed MPD railcars stored pending scrapping. This shows the BUT Image railcars (nos 122, 126 and 127) being prepared in a purpose-laid siding at Crumlin station. Image (May 1975) shows the NIR AEC railcars stored for scrapping at Mullingar.

Crumlin station (2012)
The “mothballed” Crumlin station, looking towards Antrim, from the overbridge at the eastern end of Main Street. Now a bit forlorn and in need of spraying to keep the weeds under control.
