House, Bangor
The frontage of a house on Prospect Road in Bangor. I don't know if it is still occupied - the 'Hosiery Factors' sign on the left has been there for as long as I can remember but the 'Hegde Clipings' one is much more recent.

Advertising hoarding, Bangor
The Giro d'Italia does not pass through Bangor so, unlike Belfast and other areas involved, there is virtually no reference to it. One exception I noticed was this advert for Oxfam at the junction of High Street and Clifton Road. See also Image

Terrace, Donaghadee Road
Terrace on the Donaghadee road at the junction with High Street/Prospect Road. Built c1910 the shopfront of the florists appears original suggesting that a shop of some sort has stood here since then. A few of the other houses have also been converted but the continuation of the terrace left of the blue shop and out of picture is almost entirely residential.

No 34 prospect Road, Bangor (November 2017)
See Image (July 2013). Still vacant and semi-derelict. For the record there were two planning applications, both of which were subsequently withdrawn (31 July 2008 “W/2008/0606/F Demolition of Nos 32,32a and 34 Prospect Road and erection of 2no. terrace houses to front and 3no. townhouses to rear and associated parking and landscaping. Nos 32,32a and 34 Prospect Road, Bangor” and (18 January 1999) “W/1999/0024 Change of use from dwelling to office, erection of a store and part rebuilding of existing return to dwelling. 34 PROSPECT ROAD, BANGOR.”.

Shop, Bangor
'Flooring Inspirations' shop at 57 Prospect Road, Bangor. Not listed, but mentioned in the Historic Buildings Register for Northern Ireland HB23/05/030, this shop was built c1900-1919 and was believed to be originally used as a bakery. It appears to warrant a mention due to its Belfast Truss roof (wooden rather than iron I believe). According to the DoE http://www.doeni.gov.uk/niea/ "The Belfast truss was developed in the mid-nineteenth century to meet the demand for efficient, lightweight and long span roofs brought about by the industrial revolution."

Petrol station, Bangor
The Maxol petrol station with integrated Spar shop at the apex of the Ballyholme and the Donaghadee Roads in Bangor. Today petrol was 130.9 pence a litre with diesel selling at 136.9 (compare with the higher prices in September 2013 at Image; see also Image from 2007, although I didn't record the prices). There has been a petrol station here for many years; I can remember Taylor's garage on this site which was then redeveloped as a 24 hour opening Maxol station around 1993 (the opening hours were later scaled back and it normally closes at 11pm now).
