Frozen Ward Park, Bangor
The river through Ward Park in Bangor http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=17814522 during the cold spell in December 2010. The night of 21st/22nd December was extremely cold in Bangor. This is a picture taken in the park on the morning of the 22nd - most of the water had frozen solid and there was a very hard frost with snow lying 3-4 inches deep on the ground.

Delivery van, Bangor
Delivery van outside Bangor Library in Ward Park Image The van is calling at the Library and displays the words "South Eastern Education and Library Service" along the side. All Libraries in Northern Ireland came under the control of a new body, the Northern Ireland Library Authority (aka Libraries NI), on the 1st April 2009 and, technically, the South Eastern Education and Library Board ceased to provide public Library services on that date. However, the SEELB still exists as one of five separate education boards in N.Ireland as a new quango, the Education and Skills Authority (ESA), has not yet been fully implemented (the new target date is April 2013).

Feral pigeons are common in Ward Park and reasonably tolerant of people though they do prefer visitors who bring food. The bright spring sun really brought out this bird’s vivid colours.
