Doorway, north Belfast
I’m away from familiar ground in north Belfast but I think this ornamental doorway (now apparently disused) was an entrance to part of the Mater Hospital.

Sculpture, Carlisle Circus, Belfast
A sculpture, on the top of a tall eight-sided column, at Carlisle Circus. By Iain McColl, it has a steel gondola (rotates in the wind) and sails which flutter. It represents the chimneys of the linen mills, the six religious faiths in this area and hope for the future. On the site of “Roaring Hanna” and the last piece of tramline in a public place in Belfast (both gone).

Ruair? McSorley "The Frostbit Boy" promoting NI Broadband on the side of a Metro bus
This image was taken at Carlisle Circus. Ruairi came to prominence in the wake of an UTV interview on a snowy winter morning in the Co Derry/Londonderry village of Park. The interview went viral all over the world. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/frostbit-boy-the-new-face-of-superfast-ni-broadband-31340678.html

The Hopelink Centre at Carlisle Circus
This community centre stands on the site of the former St Enoch's Presbyterian Church which was destroyed in an arson attack in the 1985. St Enoch's had been built for the 19thC evangelist Rev Dr Hugh Hanna, better known as "Roaring Hanna" a firebrand preacher who incited inter-communal rioting in the area. A statue of Hanna was also erected on the traffic island in front of the church where the modern gondola sculpture now stands (on the extreme left of the photo) but was blown up by republicans in 1970.
