This large office block is normally something of a monstrosity but, this evening, it provides a striking mirror in which can be seen the sky to the southwest at sunset.

"Little Italy" banner, Belfast (July 2019)
A recently-erected banner, on the site of the former Corporation Street social security office, marking a part of Belfast once known as “Little Italy”. Approximately between York Street/Nelson Street/Little Patrick Street and Gt Patrick Street - long since demolished and now being redeveloped with student accommodation (background).

Social Security office, Belfast
At one time the Social Security office in Corporation Street was the UK’s largest. There are now local offices where claimants may “sign on” and that dubious honour is held elsewhere. This is the entrance used by staff. The building is affectionately known as “Corp Street dole office”. Continue to Image
