The President Buchanan Mural on Woodvale Road
Succeeding Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan - not the best known US president - was in office between March 4, 1857 – March 4, 1861. He was succeeded by Abraham Lincoln. The Buchanans were Ulster Scots, the father hailing from Donegal.
