Upper Lisburn Road
The Upper Lisburn Rd, near Dunmurry 27 years later. A view looking towards Kingsway, which starts under the M1 motorway bridge. The road on the left of the image, is a exit road from St Ann's Primary School (RC). Also, the short roadway behind the telegraph pole, once was the original Upper Lisburn Rd. Flyover, Dunmurry (1)
See Image The flyover carrying the M1 across Kingsway was built in 1957-59 (in advance of the motorway contract) by local contractor Farrans. It was substantially rebuilt in the early part of this century “to repair the bridge decks and abutments that have deteriorated over time with the ingress of water and de-icing salts, and also to accommodate the increasing weight of vehicles using the motorway”. This is the south western (Dunmurry) side. See also Image

Bus lane, Dunmurry
The bus lane at the traffic lights at the “T” junction of Black’s Road Image (hidden), Kingsway, Dunmurry (foreground) and the Upper Lisburn Road, Finaghy. The blue circular sign indicates that the lane is for buses and bicycles but not motor cycles and taxis. Strictly speaking it should have an “Only” plate below the sign.
