Lawrence Hill station, 1962
View north, towards Filton Junction and the Severn Tunnel, also the ex-GWR main lines to the North and to London. A GW line train for South Wales is passing through, also beyond the station can be discerned a northbound train out of Temple Meads on the ex-Midland line (later closed) being banked up to Fishponds.

Avonmouth line local for Bristol Temple Meads entering Lawrence Hill
View northward, towards Stapleton Road and Avonmouth/Filton Junction etc.: ex-GWR main lines. The train is coming under the ex-Midland main line out to Mangotsfield etc. (right), headed by Collett '4575' class 2-6-2T No. 4592 (built 3/27, withdrawn 1/60).

Holiday express from Ilfracombe and Minehead to Wolverhampton passing Lawrence Hill station
View southward, towards Dr. Day's Bridge Junction and Bristol (Temple Meads etc.); ex-GWR Bristol & South Wales main line. This Summer Saturday express left Minehead at 12.20 and was joined by the Ilfracombe (dep. 13.10) portion at Taunton, then ran through Bristol and via Filton Junction, Yate, Gloucester avoiding-line, Cheltenham, Stratford-on-Avon and Birmingham (Snow Hill) to Wolverhampton (Low Level) (arr. 18.20). The locomotive is 4-6-0 No. 5999 'Wollaton Hall' (built 6/40, withdrawn 12/65).

'Castle' on breakdown train at Lawrence Hill
Looking in run-down condition itself but with two years still to go, GW Collett 'Castle' 4-6-0 No. 4077 'Chepstow Castle' (built 2/24, withdrawn 8/62) is working a breakdown train from the direction of Filton Junction, on the ex-GWR main lines from South Wales, Birmingham and London (via Badminton) on a 1960 Summer Saturday.

Lawrence Hill railway station, Bristol
Opened in 1863 by the Bristol and South Wales Union Railway on what is now the line from Bristol Temple Meads towards the Severn Tunnel, Bristol Parkway etc. View north towards Stapleton Road and Bristol Parkway. The two lines on the right have been reinstated since Image was taken.
