Thornbury railway station (site), Gloucestershire
Opened in 1872 by the Midland Railway as the terminus of its branch line from Yate, this station closed to passengers in 1944 and completely in 1966, and was later demolished. The whole area has since been comprehensively redeveloped. View north west along the railway track, roughly along the course of the road, towards the buffers. The single platform was to the right of the track and the station building was near where the second house now is. Out of sight to the left was a goods shed and small goods yard, now partly retail units. The road is called Midland Way.

Thornbury Railway Station & goods yard
The goods service continues but will end later in the year. This area has completely changed since then. All visible structures have been demolished, the goods yard has been replaced by a business park, a road, Midland Way, runs right down the path of the platform, the other side of which is a housing development.

Thornbury Railway Station
The passenger service ended 22 years previously but the presence of vans show that the goods service continues - but not for much longer, it will finish before the end of the year. The station building has long since been demolished & replaced by housing development.
