Dove Street Flats, Dove Street, Bristol
By the City Architect's Department, 1965-68. This is the easternmost of three slabs perpendicular to the street. In between are lower blocks. Pevsner records that tragically the development entailed "the demolition of some 340 Georgian houses that could have been restored".

The mix of run-down 20th century buildings and elegant 18th century ones is characteristic of the area, as is the vibrant graffiti.

If it's nice, play it twice
More art on Dove Street. This house happens to include an image of the popular local DJ Derek, whose long career in the clubs was well known. Derek (Serpell-Morris) was an accountant in early life but had a passion for reggae, ska, rocksteady and soul. He was reported missing in 2015, but sadly his remains were discovered nearly a year later - cause uncertain.
