Westland Wessex of The Queen's Flight
Westland Wessex HCC Mk.4 on display at the Helicopter Museum.
This aircraft, XV733, was the second HCC Mk.4 aircraft to be delivered to the Queen's Flight at Benson, Oxfordshire, in June 1969.
In August 1977 it became the first helicopter to carry The Queen, when it flew her from HMS Antrim to Northern Ireland for a two day visit in her Silver Jubilee Year.
Following the disbandment of The Queen's Flight in 1995, XV733 continued its VIP role with No.32 (The Royal) Squadron at RAF Northolt until 1998, when it was retired and placed in storage. It was purchased by the museum in 2001.

Site of the old Weston Airport
Here is the site of where Weston Airport first started (some of the wooden buildings were cleared about five years ago) though the ever present M.O.D brick and render building can be seen. These would have been erected early in its RAF period though I suspect the maintenance hangar to the right is probably older. See this link for views of some of the buildings that went and some that still cling on http://www.controltowers.co.uk/W-Z/Weston_Super_Mare.htm

Remnants of Weston Airfield
These buildings, and a remaining hangar are all that remain of Weston Airfield. Built in the 1930s, the airfield saw brief success before the War - especially with a shuttle service to Cardiff, where the Sunday service was especially busy since the pubs were closed on Sundays in Cardiff...
Converted to an RAF base during the war and then the main site for U.K. Helicopter manufacture until decline in the 1980s. Although these buildings are now derelict, nearby is the Helicopter Museum, which has a most impressive collection of retired and restored helicopters.
