This seafront building, Somerset Legion House, was built in 2007 at a cost of £6.7m in 2007; it was owned by the British Legion and offered respite breaks for servicemen and women, and their families. However, the funding has become difficult and the decision was made to close it.
A property developer has taken it over and will convert it for residential use. The mock Victorian exterior will be retained and the interior altered to provide 45 apartments, renaming it Promenade House.

Somerset Legion House
The Royal British Legion can offer breaks to ex-Service and serving personnel and their families here at Weston-super-Mare. The building right on the seafront is one of four nationally and can offer 47 rooms, with in-house library, spa, cinema and games rooms. Interestingly, it is opposite the R.A.F.A. home.

R.A.F.A. emblem
The Royal Air Force Association cares for many aspects of providing specialised care and support for those who need that little extra assistance. Flowerdown House in Weston-super-Mare is one of three homes offering 'Wings Breaks' and features the emblem on the balcony glazing. See Image] for the wider view.
