Priorities

12 Jun 2023

With good weather and Summer fast approaching we have seen an influx of tourists coming to Weston to enjoy the seaside and support local businesses.

The area also attracts local youths, who congregate in large groups, which in itself can be quite intimidating. The youths have a tendency of playing loud music from portable speakers and occasionally drink alcohol.

Local Neigbourhood Policing Team have already included the area in their patrol plan.
Actions planned are:
- regular high visibility patrols in the area
- engaging with groups of youths should ASB occur
- utilising ASB powers (section 35 dispersal notices) to move the groups on, if their behaviour is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to other members of public
- work with partner agencies to educate the youths involved as a long term solution
