Entrance to Milton Road Cemetery
The cemetery was instigated in 1862 as the town's population grew rapidly and the old grounds at St John's became full. It originally had two chapels and the Upper Gate Lodge built in neo-14th century Gothic style; further expansion took in the Lower Gate Lodge in 1930, which was acquired from the Ashcombe House estate. This is taken from the Bristol Road Lower - Milton Road is at the bottom of the grounds. See Image] for a look at a chapel and Image] for a benchmark by the door.
