Wavy lines in the car park
Underneath the apartment blocks facing out to the channel are car parks. The ventilation grilles have a sea theme to them.

Removing Piling
Port Marine, Portishead concrete piles being removed as the old wharf is cut back to allow more boat space. The picture is somewhat light to allow definition of the piling and cut.

110 at the Quay
A major development of the outer reaches of the old Portishead docks stands high over the harbour and the Bristol Channel. The apartments were built around 2013 and attracted a lot of interest when they were released. However, after the Grenfell Tower disaster, the cladding used here appeared to be of a similar type and the call to have them replaced grew loud. Developer Crest Nicholson insisted the construction complied with all safety standards and the Government grants for replacing the tiles is not applicable here - the flats are below the required threshold. With the owners complaining about the lack of effort and the costs of a fire watch, it remains to be seen how this saga ends.

The advantage of living on Argentia Place
A large development of luxury apartments overlook the harbour and the Bristol Channel, right on the coastline. They stand where the old dock sidings used to run.

A serpentine crest
Evoking a wave the 'Full Fathom Five' artwork rolls and falls around an earth mound. Created by Michael Dan Archer, the 108 granite columns are placed to give the profile of a wave from all angles, with the columns varying from 1 to 3 metres high, and each with text carved into them.

Hidden in the bushes
Close to Pennant Place is a row of bushes that line the drain behind. Almost lost under the greenery is a large stone block - see Image] for a revealing look.

An isolated artwork?
Portishead's old docks were given a massive regeneration, clearing the old industrial site and creating a marina and stylish apartment blocks. To add to the new face of the town, a number of artworks were commissioned and dotted around. However, this stone with a curious image is not part of the official art trail. See Image] for its rather hidden location view.
