Three Queens Lane
One of Bristol's ancient thoroughfares remains to this day. In the past it was barely as wide as the pavement is today, and the traffic island was the site of a public house. Modern development continues apace, although this street was featured in the television series 'Thirteen'.

It has to come down before it goes up
The Redcliff Quarter (in the old style spelling, note) has been the site of centuries of occupation and industry. As it happens, today sees the demolition of the last age of buildings and the start of yet more new ones. Part of the half-demolished/half-rebuilt office block stands momentarily before the towering DRG Group building in the background.

Another record for tallest building?
The new apartments going up on Three Queens Lane are now showing above the previous title holders. However, Bristol's new and present tallest building is in the background to the left of shot and is not challenged by this latest work.

60 Redcliff Street, Bristol
Faced in rather unprepossessing Pennant rubble and stone, although the ground-floor arcade is an attractive feature in granite and Mansfield stone. By Henry Crisp and H.C.M. Hirst, 1883. Grade II listed.
Built as a tobacco factory, it is now flats.

The old Wills place
Redcliffe Street is an important venue in the story of W.D. & H.O. Wills tobacco production. Having started a little distance away in a small shop, the business quickly expanded and moved into these premises.
