Tony Benn House, Victoria Street, Bristol
Looking very 1950s. On the end wall is a typically symbolic carving: Image Offices of the Unite union, formerly known as Transport House, it was renamed in honour of Tony Benn a few months after this photo was taken. As well as being a staunch support of trades unions, Benn was an M.P. in Bristol from 1950 until 1983. The far block with blue spandrels is Transom House.

Entrance, Tony Benn House, Victoria Street, Bristol
South West offices of Unite the Union, formerly the T&GWU (Transport and General Workers Union), on the corner of Mitchell Lane. Old-Maps shows the site densely built-up before World War II but vacant in 1949. The building is shown in outline on a map dated 1959-66, then shaded and named Transport House on a map dated 1966-76. The present entrance looks like a renewal of the original.
