The Baptist church was constructed as the first of the new houses were being built, and was part of the original plans when Stockwood grew up from Sturminster Road. Despite the problems caused in the terrible winter of 1963, the church was completed and a ceremonial opening held on Saturday 7th December that year.

On the approach to The Coots estate, Stockwood, is a small gas installation. It was brought online when the estate was completed in 1978, and has a rivet benchmark in its footings. See Image

This small and easily overlooked ironwork is in fact a rivet benchmark, set into the concrete footings of a small gas valve station on The Coots, Stockwood. According to the OS website it was levelled in 1978 and would be contemporary with the estate's construction.
