Boundary stone on Highridge Road
A boundary stone has been kept and respected by some creative ironmongery. Interestingly, the modern boundaries appear to have been shifted, as this stone is no longer on it. Indeed, the older maps indicate the edge of the city ran through here from centuries ago but were altered post-war as the suburban sprawl increased.
Presumably, 'B P' refers to Bishopsworth Parish.

Please do not dump rubbish
It's been a chronic problem around the outskirts of the city: fly-tipping continues on an almost regular basis. No sooner has the rubbish been cleared by the council, then more appears.

Disturbing the peace on the common
Highridge Common occupies a higher spot over the south of Bristol; its views and slightly quieter ambience attracts those seeking something a bit more relaxing. However, the new MetroBus system has been given the go-ahead and millions are being spent on sweeping a new road network through to link the major roads to the airport.
In the background are the new and colourful Bedminster Down school (rebuilt 2004) and the Ilchester Crescent transmitter mast.

The Peart
The light coloured field in the centre of shot is part of The Peart, a distinct small hill locally. It has a pronounced profile when viewed from the adjoining road (perhaps lending to the suburb name of Highridge); however, viewing from Dundry church tower its impact is reduced.

Obstructing the view
The homeowners who live on Highridge Green used to have a lovely view across the Common. Now they have a rather compromised outlook, as the road is being upgraded to take the new MetroBus link. Once the works are finished they will probably have more traffic to block their view.

Making a bigger road
Highridge Common has been reduced a little. The old road has been upgraded (at some cost) to allow the proposed MetroBus system to sweep past towards Bristol Airport.
