Both became empty in 2007 after being declared unsafe, and after years of indecision over their future, they were demolished in 2012 with the area due to be redeveloped. A different process was followed compared with Alkham Tower (see in the left background), presumably because of proximity to other buildings (such as Portland House, to its immediate right here).

The Old Police Station on High Street in St Mary Cray, dating from 1896. It ceased to have its original role in around 1980, when its functions transferred to Orpington, and after a variety of uses it has now been converted to flats, going under the name Warwick House. It is locally listed. The building on the right of the photo, Durley House, dates from the 18th century and is grade II listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1359328. The nearest, Nos 87 - 91, is grade II listed with two separate listings: No 87 (the furthest section) dates from the 18th/19th century while nos 89 - 91 (the nearer two sections of the same building) has 16th century origins.
