West Wickham: Railway towards Eden Park
In the distance is seen a bridge: this is just a minor bridge carrying a footpath into Langley Park. The stretch of railway here used to have the distinction (on the Southern) of a FOURTH rail, mounted London-Transport style, in the centre: this was bonded to the running rails and its purpose was to help the return current - though why this was necessary here is not clear.

West Wickham Station
Looking northwest, a 10-car Down train for Hayes enters the station. It is made up of two coupled Class 376 units. These 5-car units are a version of the 'ELECTROSTAR' design intended for inner-suburban work. They are used all over Southeastern and provide an excellent and comfortable standard of accommodation.
