Open parking area at Bromley bus garage
Situated opposite the garage on the north side of Lower Gravel Road. It is filled with exotic older vehicles on the occasion of the Garage Open Day. This was held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the setting up 'Roundabout', a localised bus network with small buses. Instead of being run solely for the operator's convenience (as had been too often the case in the past), Roundabout actively sought to meet local needs with its maroon and grey buses. Although Roundabout ceased in 1995 its legacy lives on. For an example of a Roundabout vehicle see Image

Vintage Tilling bus at Bromley bus garage
This picture was taken at the Bromley Garage Open Day. The garage was opened in April 1924 by the London General Omnibus Company (LGOC) for use by the Thomas Tilling company which operated an network of services out of LGOC garages at Bromley, Catford and Croydon. Tillings along with the LGOC and other operators were absorbed to form the London Passenger Transport Board in 1933. The vehicle seen here (ST 922) was recently restored into maroon Tilling livery and carries the still current Bromley garage code of T(illing) B(romley). It is an AEC Regent I with a Tilling body. It lasted in passeneger service between 1930-46 and is now kept at the London Bus Museum.
