This i a spacious dual-carriageway with shops on both sides, which grew up mainly in the 1930s. The single-deck bus seen approaching is on Route 314, from Eltham Station and destined for New Addington.

Station Approach, Hayes (Kent)
Taken from near the station. The railway from Elmers End to Hayes was opened in 1882 but little development took place in the area until the line was electrified in 1925. In the wake of electrification came roads of semi-detached houses and Tudor-style shopping parades such as this.
