Falaise, West Quay

Newhaven Lifeboat Station
The new building was constructed as part of the West Quay redevelopment and replaced an older building that no lies under Image The town's lifeboat predates the RNLI by twenty years with the first introduced in 1803 after the disaster of HMS Brazen in 1800 which sank off the cliffs of Newhaven with the loss of all but one of its 105 crew.

Newhaven lifeboat
Newhaven lifeboat station was founded in 1803, before the RNLI was founded. For history and information on previous and current boats and activities see http://newhavenlifeboat.co.uk/ which tells us that the current boat is Severn class, the largest of the current RNLI fleet being 17 metres (c. 56 feet) long overall and just under 6 metres (c. 18 feet) wide at the widest point..
