Newhaven Museum, Avis Road, Newhaven
This super little museum specialises in the maritime history of the town and is well worth a visit. It occupies the northern end of the "Garden Paradise" garden centre. Note the lifebelts above the door and the ships gun in the car park. Despite this picture being taken in July (note the hanging baskets) the garden centre still has its Christmas decorations - the Christmas trees.

Railway foot crossing and power station, Newhaven
The 16.5 MW station is just operational, burning rubbish. Operated by Veolia, their latest progress bulletin says that any plume from the stacks is steam and not pollution. However, having studied the plume from various angles, there is quite definitely solid matter in it, although admittedly not much.

New Road
The middle set of cottages were built during the late 1890s and the other set at either end were completed by 1910. Up until the early 1980s this was the northern end of New Road which joined Avis Road at this point, however, it was closed off at the western end and a new wider road built to the rear of the cottages which is now the course of the A26.

Looking south from the footpath that crosses the railway. The North Quay is to the right whilst the newer buildings of the Euro business park are to the left. The railway is the Lewes-Seaford branch line.
