Stud Farm
The old manor farm fell into the hands of Ambrose Gorham in 1890 who used it to train his racehorses, one of which, Shannon Lass, won the Grand National in 1902. With his winnings Gorham, who was also a bookmaker, used it to modernise the village and by the time of his death had acquired enough land to bequeath it to Brighton council in return for it remaining unspoilt in perpetuity. The Gorham Trust still owns much land today as well as the farm which is still a working one.

Telscombe Manor
Dating back to the 12th century with a fascinating tower. Googling for more information merely revealed that this is owned by the National Trust and is/was used as Judges Lodgings. The wind vane, silhouetted against the tower, appears to be a two legged creature with a tail - peacock?
