The Church of St Thomas a Becket, Cliffe, East Sussex
There was probably a Benedictine chapel here some time during the 12th century. It later became a church in its own right, and the first vicar was appointed in 1320. Although some fabric survives from the 12th century, (particularly in the chancel, which was probably the original chapel) most of what we see today dates from the 14th century, with a robust west tower built in the 15th century.

Entrance, Jireh Chapel
Jesus says any man who enters in may be saved but he better beware if he's parking there!
The chapel was built in 1805 by the Countess of Huntingdon for the Reverend Jenkin Jenkins. It fell into disuse but with the aid of grants was restored in the 1990s and given to the Free Presbyterians.

It also is the headquarters of the Cliffe Bonfire Society one of five major societies that participate each year in the Lewes Bonfire celebrations. Malling Street is now a back street having been the main A26 up to 1980 the road itself has now been blocked and forced to veer west over an area once occupied by wharves and factories.
