Lodge Farm
The farmhouse viewed from New Road, the B2112. The land around was originally part of Ditchling Park, a former deer park that began life as a stud farm for Alfred the Great. It was enclosed in the late 16th century and as the name of the farm suggests the former lodge house has most likely become the farm. Not certain of the antiquity of the building but it does look at least 18th century.

Lodge Cottage, New Road
At the junction with the B2112 and Lodge Lane, the latter a much older thoroughfare than the former which was only built in 1830. The road is straight, busy and fast with no verges so not recommended for walking unless you do it around 6.30 on a Sunday morning. Wolstonbury Hill can be seen in the background.

Cows, South Dial Mead
The name of the field according to the 1843 tithe map and formerly part of Ditchling Park, a deer park that dates back to the time of Alfred the Great when he used it as a stud farm, that was disparked in the late 16th century. This is the western end of the field viewed from New Road, the B2112, with the northern scarp slope of the South Downs in the distance.
