Hassocks Station
The original station here was called Hassocks Gate when it opened in 1841, the name apparently taken from a tollgate on the road to Brighton rather than any actual settlement. It has been rebuilt several times since then, most recently between 2012 and 2013 when the lift seen in this view was installed. The main building is on the other (up) side of the line.

The station, that is. This drawing, displayed in the ticket office/waiting room on Platform 1 of the current miserable cluster of bus shelters that passes for Hassocks station, shows part of the original beautiful Victorian building.
