Saddlescombe Manor House
Most of the building seems to date to the 18th century but parts have earlier origins and there are also suggestions that the east wing is built round a former medieval chapel. The manor of Saddlescombe was owned by the Knight Templars for about a century up to their suppression in 1312 when the lands were granted to the Knights Hospitallers who were Lords of the Manor until the dissolution in the 1530s. The current owners are the National Trust who have preserved both the manor and the farm buildings.
