A view over Bramber
Looking from the churchyard towards the main road, The Street, in the centre of the village and the Downs beyond. The clouds which had brought heavy rain overnight were clearing and the rest of this late-September day was warm and bright.

View west along The Street
For a brief instant I always think I'm in Wales when I walk past the hotel on the left. On the side away from the camera it says: "Ye Bramber Castle Hotel" - but the "e" is tiny and it looks at first glace like "Y Bramber Castle Hotel"!

The Street
Looking down the main village street originally built as a causeway to cross the former Adur estuary. Two 15th century buildings are in view. To the left is St Mary's House built for the warden of the bridge and originally known as Chapel House, and to the right is the Old Priory, formerly Priory House, originally owned by nearby Sele Priory. Overlooking both in the distance is the remains of the Norman keep of Bramber Castle.

These lovely gardens can be seen through a wrought iron gate in the High Street. It is located next to St Mary's House. Note the inscription "Not all who wander are lost".
