The Waterside Inn
On the corner of Riverside Road and Lower Beach Road. Beyond is the former ferry crossing to Shoreham on the other side of the river. The pub itself was formerly known as the Lady Jane and before that the Tudor Rose.

River Adur shoreline
Boats moored alongside the River Adur at Shoreham Beach. The former car ferry in the background, The Shieldsman, originally operated across the River Tyne between North and South Shields from 1976 until retired in 2007, and like many of the boats along this stretch of the river has now been converted into a houseboat.

Moored boats, Shoreham Harbour (River Adur)
The ark-like boat could be a house boat, but looks a little too plain for an owner-occupier.

Houseboat at Shoreham Beach, West Sussex
There is a very wide diversity of converted vessels along this stretch of the River Adur. This is one of the more conventional ones.

Pelican and Otia Margaretta
Two of the three houseboats located near to Lower Beach Road, Pelican is to the right, Otia Margaretta is on the left. A third Guidance, is out of shot to the right. They are the last reminder of the original Edwardian Bohemian lifestyle of the area, much of which was cleared during World War Two with only the houseboats remaining. Even then they faced long periods of conflict with the local council before the latter grudgingly accepted their existence. Viewed from the mud at low tide.
