Victoria Cottages
Linking Kingsway (A259) and King's Esplanade. This part of Brighton & Hove is the only section that has housing between the main coastal road and the beach. Victoria Cottages date from the late 1830s. The salmon pink building to the left is the rear of Maroccos purveyors of the best homemade Italian ice cream in the city.

Cask ales on offer at my visit: Courage Director's, Dark Star Hophead, Greene King Abbot, Harvey's Sussex Best, Kissingate Mild. Refreshingly unreconstructed, without a sign of hipsters!

10-14, Victoria Terrace, Kingsway, Hove
Located between Victoria Cottages to the east and Sussex Road to the west. Built in the 1840s and originally known as Albert Terrace until 1911 when it became part of Victoria Terrace. Number 10 on the left is The Neptune public house which has bucked the trend in Hove by resolutely remaining a good old fashioned pub whilst retaining its original name.
