Leaving Eastbourne on the A2270.

Glimpsed at the end of a long driveway off Church Street, is Haystoun House. Built circa 1860 of stuccoed brick under a hipped slate roof. There is a wing with a recessed veranda of 2 columns, now Haystoun Cottage, a separate dwelling. At the junction of Church Street and Eastbourne Road, outside the village hall stands this Jubilee Post. Erected to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002. This building was originally Willingdon village school and school-master's house. The school was converted into the Church Hall in 1953 and the house is now Church House, number 37 Church Street. Built in the mid 19th century of knapped flint with stone dressings and quoins under a tile roof.
