Proud Cabaret, St George's Road, Kemp Town, Brighton
The building is located on the corner of Paston Place and was built in 1892 as a mausoleum for the Sassoon family who lived in a neighbouring house. Two generations of the family were buried here but a third decided to sell it in 1933 and moved the graves to London. After that the building was used as a furniture repository, boxing club and air raid shelter. In 1949 it was purchased by a brewery who attached it to the neighbouring Hanbury Arms and used as an entertainment venue known as the Hanbury Ballroom. The pub closed in 2006 and since then a number of ventures have passed through with the latest occupants Proud Cabaret running a combined restaurant and cabaret experience since 2011.

Cavendish Court, St George's Road, Kemp Town, Brighton
Built in the late 1980s on the former site of the Kemp Town Odeon cinema which itself had been opened in 1934. The cinema suffered a direct hit during World War Two when a German bomber being chased by a Spitfire jettisoned its load over Kemp Town. Two of the five bombs hit a packed cinema during a Saturday matinee show killing 52 people. Rebuilt after the war the cinema continued in operation until 1960 when it was converted into a bingo hall which it remained until its final closure in 1986. It was demolished soon after.

The B2118 looking towards the crossroads with Paston Place. The brick building on the right is the rear to Seymour Square built in 1970 on the site of the former Kemp Town Brewery. Beyond it is the Bombay Bar built in 1892 as a mausoleum for Sir Albert Sassoon who was buried there in 1896 along with his son in 1912. His family sold the building in 1933 and removed the bodies for reburial in London. During the war it was used as an air raid shelter before becoming part of the Hanbury Arms pub next door, later on being a small concert and club venue known as the Hanbury Ballroom. Today it is an Indian restaurant.
