Victoria Gardens
Originally known as the Northern Steine but renamed in 1897. The two plinths once had statues but these are now gone along with three other plinths one of which has disappeared and two others which have been moved elsewhere. Beyond that is the art faculty of the University of Brighton.

Hector's House, Grand Parade
Head west down Morley Street rejoin Grand Parade then head south past the junction with North Road to the junction with Kingswood Street. This part of Grand Parade overlooks what was the Northern Steine and is now the southern enclosure of Victoria Gardens and was built from 1800 onwards. The pub was once known as the Norfolk but is now named after a 1970s children show whose star can be seen on the pub sign. Wonder what Kiki and Zsazsa have to say about that? Brewdog, Grand Parade, Brighton
A view of the southern side of the pub building in Kingswood Street. Brewdog opened here in the summer of 2015 after the previous occupants closed after complaints of noise. Originally the Norfolk Arms I've lost count of the number of name changes over the years which have included Hector's House and The Blind Tiger Club. On the other side of the road, out of shot to the left, is the art department of the University of Brighton, hence the sign.

Graffiti as Advertising
The garage door on the left advertises last spring's Brighton Festival, that on the right Channel 4's Street Summer series of programmes. The two belong to the former municipal market in Circus Street which closed in 2005 and is currently awaiting development. The taller building on the right is part of the University of Brighton and I think is student accommodation.

Circus Street Annex, University of Brighton, Brighton
The building in view was originally the Circus Street School built in 1883 to replace an older one that stood to its immediate south east. The school closed in 1926 and was acquired by the College of Art and Crafts who would merge with Brighton Technical College in 1970 to become Brighton Polytechnic which gained university status in 1992. Currently an annex to its Grand parade campus the building is scheduled for demolition along with neighbouring Image
