A pair of 18th century flint cottages line the old main road through the village. Like all estate villages each residence is numbered for the estate rather than the road they are located on.

The apparently over-fussy parking regulations for this small, off-the-beaten- track village is because it is hard by Sussex University.

The Old Stores, Mill Street
On the corner of Park Street in the northern section of Falmer village. The stores were closed in the early 1980s with most villagers able to shop at either the Farm shop in the southern section of the village or using the small student run stores on the nearby university campus.

Mill Street
The northern most street in the village of Falmer running between Ridge Road and Knights Gate Road, the latter being the only entry into the northern part of the village. The buildings on the left are Pelham Cottages which were formerly known as Knight's Almshouses and were built in 1869. That on the right is The Old Store being the village's former post office. Mill Street was also the original main road through the village marked as such on Yeakell & Gardner's map of 1778 and the first OS map of 1813. Sometime during the 19th century it was rerouted to follow Middle Street through the village.

Originally known as Knight's Almshouses they were erected in 1869 in memory of the former wife of Henry Pelham, Third Earl of Chichester, owner and resident of nearby Stanmer House.
