Alas, they weren't
Situated at the southern end of Arundel Bridge, it reads "Be true and just in your dealings" It was placed there by a local worthy who put up £30 towards the cost of repairing the bridge. No more subscriptions were forthcoming but the trustees of the fund would not return his money!
