Looking across Widewater Lagoon
This view is from the car park at the end of West Beach Road. Although Widewater Lagoon is not directly connected to the sea, seawater is allowed to enter the lagoon to keep the salinity up and create a brackish habitat. See http://www.sussex.ac.uk/geography/researchprojects/coastview/Brighton_to_Saltdean/widewater_lagoon.html and https://www.glaucus.org.uk/Brackish.htm The houses seen on the other side are on Brighton Road (A259).
