Former Hanningtons Service Yard, Brighton
This part of Brighton is about to be redeveloped as part of the new Hannington Lane project. Originally the site of a Sunday school belonging to the Countess of Huntingdon's church which was demolished in the mid 1960s and subsequently used as a service entrance for Hannington's department store and later the shops located in Huntingdon House on the right and Brighton Square to the left. Planning permission has been approved to make another shopping area close in style to Dukes Lane which will be accessed from three directions; Brighton Square, Meeting House Lane, see
Image, and North Street, the latter requiring the demolition of number 15. Part of the development will allow access to Pugets Cottage, one of the oldest houses in brighton dating back to the early 1600s, currently hidden away by walls.

The Dolphin Fountain, Brighton Square
Sculpted by James Osborne and unveiled in 1992. The fountain was designed to receive thrown coins with the plaque on the right hand side informing those that do that all monies will go towards the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, not sure if this is still the case. Brighton Square itself was built in the 1960s and was one of the few major building works of that period that was designed to fit it into the surroundings rather than impose a concrete megalith upon it.
